Made for the RPG Maker 2025 Game Jam as per the theme "Beyond Expectations."

*CONTENT WARNING: This game revolves around the subjects of death and oppression. Though it explores violent themes (e.g. murder) through text, there is no graphic artwork... save, perhaps, for one enemy whose bones can be seen after you destroy one of its heads - I assure you, it is very tame!

Story

Road to the Next Life is a story-driven adventure game set in a fantastical, dream-like afterlife known as Limbo. You take on the role of the "Guilt-bearer," a man whose soul is fading due to an abundance of guilt. 

Discombobulated by your death, you remember nothing of yourself, the guilt that weighs you down, nor how you died. You must travel to the edge of Limbo, where the entrance to the next life stands, lest your soul perish for good.
